When it is dark for most of the day for three months of the year, you are going to be spending a lot of time indoors. That’s why Scandinavians really understand interior decorating. The natural world outside is denied to them all winter by the combination of darkness and snow, so they bring a touch of the outside indoors. Nowhere is this more apparent than with their timber hardwood floors. Norwegian firm Boen have been working with hardwood for centuries and they make some of the best engineered wood floors in the industry.
Engineered Wood Flooring
Engineered wood flooring is made from two or more layers of wooden planks. The top layer that will be on display is sanded and sealed and comes in a variety of natural wood colours. Boen’s years of expertise working with hardwoods has enabled them to minimise the contraction and expansion that can be associated with poorer quality wood panelled flooring. Their unique tongue-and-groove system for locking their flooring panels together will leave your floor with a tight finish.
Choose Your Wood
By far the most popular choice of wood for flooring is oak - but Boen also make floor panels from a number of other hardwoods, from the familiar ash and beech to the exotic. Perhaps you would like to be walking around on a floor made from iroko - a warm treacle-coloured timber that will darken as it ages.
