One of the biggest trends in interior design at the moment is ‘ethical’: products that give you a beautiful home and peace of mind. Going green in 2016 is all about a sustainable approach to sourcing materials, and eco-friendly flooring is a great place to start.

Wool carpets and hardwood floors are commonplace, but innovative flooring can be crafted from other natural fibres. Seagrass Carpets

Seagrass is grown in coastal ‘meadows’ then hand harvested and spun into fibres that can be woven into a durable flooring material. Seagrass carpets are naturally moisture resistant, which is great for spillages, and the finished product is a beautiful wheaten colour. 

Sisal Carpets

Sisal is named after the Mexican port through which the tough yarn was originally distributed. For a rustic look, sisal is the perfect choice of material. Carpets woven from this material can be dyed any colour. It can feel coarse like jute or coir, but sisal carpets are extremely hardwearing, rivalling manufactured products such as nylon for durability.
