Retail Design Expo 2016: Key Shopfitting Lessons for Retailers

Europe’s leading annual event for innovation in retail design took place in Olympia London last weekend and over 16,000 people showed up to see what was new from the top suppliers in the shopfitting industry. Inspiration and fresh ideas were on display everywhere and at double the size of last year’s event it was bound to be a lot to take in!


Three Expositions for the Price of One

The Retail Design Expo 2016 was co-located with the Retail Digital Signage Expo and the Retail Business Technology Expo. A single pass granted access to all three expositions. Here are some early reactions from top retail industry figures.




What We Learned

Anyone looking to kit out a new retail premises had a treat in store: over 75 industry experts gave talks and hosted sessions in the 5 conference theatres. That’s a lot of experts. Here’s what we learned:

  • Visual Marketing is a key concept in modern retail design. Everything the customer might conceivably look at whilst on your premises should serve a purpose. That includes the floor!
  • International Focus. London, a truly international city, was chosen as the venue for this expo. Industry insiders from all over Europe attended, bringing their fresh ideas.
  • Design is Marketing. When it comes to marketing, the design of your business premises is your biggest advert. Attention to every detail is paramount - from floor to ceiling.
  • Customer Awareness. The customer notices everything, including what they are walking on.
