Best Flooring for People with Allergies

Posted on: 3rd June 2015

If you have someone in the family who suffers with allergies or asthma then invest in flooring which will make a big impact on air quality, as certain flooring can be the biggest source of allergens. Generally hard surfaces such as wood flooring is a good option, however, there are many other choices available.

Carpets

Although carpet is a very popular choice in many homes, it can be a problem for those who suffer with allergies or asthma. Carpets tend to hold allergens from dust mites, pollen, pet dander and dirt. If you like the feel of carpet and want it in your home, a low pile is a better option as are natural fibre carpets such as wool or sisal.

Allergy friendly flooring

Hardwood flooring: this is an excellent choice for those with asthma or allergies as it’s easy to clean and maintain.
