Child Friendly Flooring For Your Home

Posted on: 18th May 2015

If you have children, you will know how much they use their bedroom for fun activities and games, so it's important to choose flooring that will withstand constant use and still look great. Whether you're renovating a room to create a nursery or turning a child's room into a teenager's den, we have put together some options to help you.

What type of flooring is best for my children?

Carpet: Soft and comfortable, carpeting can protect your baby from bumps and bruises, making it seem like the obvious choice. Children love to play or even have quiet time on the floor, so carpet is a great choice. Our Stainless range by Cavalier is ideal for a children's room as it has a guaranteed stain resistance, making it easy to clean up spillages. Kingsmead also offer the Genius range which has been constructed from 100% Everlon polypropylene, making it very easy to clean too.

Hardwood: This type of flooring is long lasting and very easy to clean. Hardwood floors have a classic look which never goes out of style either, so you can enjoy your floor for many years to come. Although hardwood is extremely durable, all wood floors are subject to some wear and tear, especially when toddlers are using them most of the time. If you choose this option, a large rug will help protect and provide a more comfortable playing surface for your children. We supply wooden floors from three of the best flooring manufacturers in the UK.

Vinyl: Vinyl flooring is durable, scratch resistant and easy to clean, a great option for a nursery or playroom. Rhinofloor, Tarkett and Gerflor all offer slip resistant vinyl flooring, ideal for children who like to explore around the house. The great thing about vinyl flooring is that there are so many styles and colours; you'll be spoilt for choice.

If you would like more information on these types of flooring, pop into our showroom in Lenwade, just outside of Norwich and we will more than happy to help you. Our showroom is open Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm; however, if you would like an appointment over the weekend, this can also be arranged.
