Our Commercial Floor Covering Project: HMP Norwich

Posted on: 15th January 2015

As a customer you may have only seen our domestic flooring side of the business but within our 30 years of experience we have also been involved in many commercial flooring projects too.

HMP Norwich Project

One of our biggest projects to date was when HMP Norwich decided to replace the Victorian A wing with a brand new three story accommodation and ancillaries block. The new accommodation block sleeps 180 people and includes the association areas & medical facilities.

Due to our professionalism and the quality of our work, we were awarded the contract to supply and install all of the flooring to the two buildings over a three month period. The total value of the flooring contract was £164,000 whilst the entire project itself cost around £25 million.

The Materials We Used

We decided to use a range of different floorings to complete the project which included:

  • 1500m2 of Polyflor XL Sheet Vinyl
  • 1600m2 of Polyfloor XL Vinyl Sheet
  • Acoustic Underlay
  • 1200m2 of Heckmonwike Broaddrib Sheet Carpet
  • 260m2 of Forbo Safestep Safety Floor
  • 80m2 of Heckmonwike Broaddrib Dreadnought Matting
  • 320m of Quatum Stair Nosing

We also applied Laybond Sealdeck Epoxy Membrane as well as Universal Primer & Screedmaster 1-2 levelling Compound to all the sub-floors before we laid the new floor coverings. Just to make sure the vinyl flooring was given an increased lifespan we applied two coats of seal.

As you can see we are a very efficient and hardworking team. If you have a project that you would like us to work on then please feel free to contact us on 01603 879359.
