Why choose hardwood?

You may be wondering why you should invest in hardwood when you could choose laminate flooring which can provide the same effect. While laminate flooring provides the same aesthetic look there are several areas where you can’t beat the ‘real deal’.

• Easy to repair: If hardwood floors suffer damage, either from scratches or hard and heavy blows, it is a very easy to process to repair the floor or cover up the damage. The damaged panel can be easily removed and replaced with a new one, bringing your floor back to perfect condition. Alternatively, scratches can be sanded down and the panel varnished and waxed to restore its appearance.
• Durability: While hardwood is easier to repair, it is less likely to be damaged in the first place. Compared to laminate, hardwood can withstand most every day knocks and bumps with ease – it will take serious effort to damage hardwood while laminate will eventually give way over time.
• Water damage: Wood is susceptible to damage from water; unfortunately there is no getting around this problem. Hardwood is no more resistant to water than laminate is but, as explained above, it is easier to repair. Laminate is more susceptible to water than hardwood too and is known to buckle when wet . It can also potentially break apart and flake away too.
• Unique appearance: No two pieces of wood are the same; each will have its own markings and knots. This will make any hardwood floor truly unique while looking stylish too. Laminate can imitate wood flooring but ultimately the look and design of them will be based on a set pattern, so if you want that feeling that your floor is special and different then hardwood is the way to go.
